PRESS RELEASE
Amsterdam, 25th September 2006
Finally Amsterdam has its own butter cookie.
First Amsterdam cookies presented to Amsterdam mayor Job Cohen
From today Amsterdam finally got its well deserved treat; Amsterdam’s mayor Job Cohen was first to receive the cookies from the hands of Jeroen Daelmans, fourth generation of the Daelmans bakers that have run the family business since 1909. The Amsterdam cookies are baked the shape of 8 different typical Amsterdam canal houses, packed in an attractive traditional, yet modern Dutch Delft Blue packaging. The cookies will be distributed through international retailers and Travel Retail.

Jeroen Daelmans: ‘The Amsterdam cookies are part of an exclusive range of so called “Delft Blue” assortment of cookies and caramel wafers. The design is traditional but also very modern presenting Holland abroad as more than tulips, windmills and clogs. In order to strengthen the Dutch aspects of the range we started a special website: www.discoverholland.info Here people can find a lot of interesting fact about Holland. The website is communicated on the packaging.”
